CTE Professional Learning Communities

PLCs in VUSD

San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) facilitated the first SDCOE CTE PLC in Vista Unified School District at Vista High School.

The PLC supported five critical areas:  

  • Leadership Practice
  • Instructional Practice
  • Data Driven Decision-Making
  • Supporting Student Learning
  • Ideal State of High Functioning PLC’s
  • Video Library

Each of the five areas address essential questions, tools and resources, and related educational news articles.  The Vista High CTE PLC team met each month and used the PLC strategies to meet school goals and improve best practices in curriculum and instruction.   CTE teachers applied PLC learning objectives while reviewing student work samples and developed SMART goals (Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely).  Formative assessments were reviewed and strategies to enrich learning experiences for all students were addressed.
